The Second Annual Fiji Triathlon
The
second annual Fiji Triathlon held
May 13th through 16th, accommodates
participants from first timers to
experienced seasonal triathletes
and once again included the Castaway
Island Swim as a warm-up event. Friday
the 13th was a lucky day
for competitors this year, as high
tide reduced the distance by a full
kilometer to a still challenging
3 km open water swim clockwise around
Castaway Island in calm,
crystal clear 75 degree waters over
tropical reefs and fish. Enthused
finishers variously dubbed the spectacular
setting "ideal", "memorable" and "sensational",
and can't wait to return next year.
The Castaway Island Swim was won
by American Todd Menzel with a winning
time of 54 1/2 minutes.

Depicted above are Ann Cameron and Michael Moleskins Molesworth in their race to the finish line.
