HI We have been to Castaway Island before , but as we are self employed we can only get holidays this year from 24 Dec to 2 January.So we couldnt get any accomodation at Castaway and have decided to book Fiji again and go to Plantation Island and The Warwick Resort as well.I am feeling really worried as I am unsure what the other resorts are like.Has anyone been to them?Are they OK? Look forward to hear from you thanks
Wow !!! What awesome comments on this board ! My fiance (Eva) and I are going to be on the island in June 2002 for our honeymoon. We've just decided to come to Castaway after reading this board. With all the choices to stay at in Fiji, we were getting concerned we'd regret picking the "wrong one". Sounds to me like we won't regret Castaway. One thing though...We'll be staying at the Outrigger Reef for the first three nights, then travelling on to Castaway for another 4-5 nights. Does anybody recommend against this ??? We thought it'd be nice to stay at two places for variety. Are four to five nights enough ? It's $500 less if we stay at the Outrigger for three nights. Is it worth it ?!?!? As you can see, I need some reassurance ! I can't wait to meet people from so many different places. Please e-mail me your thoughts (if any), and suggestions. Thanks, Steve

I can't believe that it has already been 6 weeks since we married on your beautiful island. Have just seen the Castaway resort on BBC travel show, looks like paradise. Me and my wife to be Fiona will be getting married on the island of Castaway in April 2002. Bula to everyone on the Castaway Island Resort. Its been one year since we were there on our honeymoon. It seems as though it were yesterday. We have so many beautiful memories of Fiji we will never forget, especially the hospitality and the people. We still remember Lendua, Jale, Lily, Manu and so many others, also the fabalous music band with the big bowl of cava. It was such a great experience that we hope we can go back someday. To Castaway Island I am 6 years old and how have you been since I have been there? I loved snorkelling, para-sailing, all your different types of food, looking for frogs and playing on the tennis court at the kids-club. I also loved the big island the grass houses on the beach and rock-climbing. I also loved getting my hair braided and everyone said who has done that great hair. My mom and dad loved the beautiful island and Jesse my brother who is 4 loved playing in the band. Thank you band for letting Jesse play and Nina my sister who is 7 months loved eating watermelon and papaya the best. I loved all the Castaway people. Vanaka love Anna Marquard-Karp

HI WE ARE STAYING ON CASTAWAY FROM 30 DEC TO 5 JAN. WE HAVE TWO KIDS AGED 8 & 10, WE ARE INTERESTED IN HEARING FROM ANYONE WHO MAY BE THERE OVER THIS TIME. WE CANT WAIT AND ARE COUNTING DOWN THE WEEKS.
I had to check our dive log to be sure of the dates we visited paradise !! April 1994...and we still have such wonderful memories. What a great place to get your diving certification !! I read through all the guest book comments from recent years...and it's clear that Castaway is still making magic for those who visit it's island shores!! I have just got back from spending 2 beautiful weeks on Castaway Island. I went there with a lovely family I worked for in England who had emergrated to N.Z. and wanted me to join them on thier holiday to Castaway. We all had a wonderful time the holiday could not have been more perfect the people are so friendly and warm and make you feel like home, the food was well presented and tasty and the bures clean and comfortable. I stayed at Castaway for 8 fantastic nights and I had the time off my life! These people touched my heart and I will be definitly returning! Vinaka to Merlini, Joe, Vilisi, Lati, Joe, Ramsey, Solo, Lily, Maraia, Fuki and most of all Handre. The food is 5 star the accomodation is relaxing and the beaches are the best I have ever seen. I have been to The Fijian, Tokoriki, Mana, Sheraton Denarau Island, Mana island, Beachcomber, Vomo and Vatulele and my favourite is definitly Castaway! From the moment you wake up to when you go to sleep, you really feel like your in paradise! I dont think I could ever go back to another resort! We have finally made the booking we have always dreamed of, since last leaving Castaway Island in 1998. We had always said that we will return one day and we have booked to do that late January, to celebrate our 4th Wedding Anniversary. We now have a beautiful little boy who will come and share the experience with us. How do you put into words this amazing experience. We spent 10 days in July on Castaway Island and it will be remembered by each one in our family for the rest of our lives. The weather, accommodations, activities, food,beauty of the island and mostly the new friendships were unforgetable. Bula to all of our Castaway friends. Enani, we love you. We dream of returning someday. It was a long trip from Seattle,Wa......but well worth it!

My husband & I stayed at Castaway May 26 - June 3, 2001 for our honeymoon. It was incredible. If they are still offering it, go on the Dolphin Safari while you are there. It is one of the more expensive activities, but it was worth it. On the Dolphin Safari, you take a large sail boat out into the ocean and sail around until you find a pack of dolphins. They swim & jump & play around the boat as you sail around them. Then they take you out to the outer reefs for some snorkeling and a picnic lunch aboard the boat. It was one of our most favorite parts of the trip! You really get to see the real beauty of Fiji out there.

We just spent our honeymoon on Castaway Island (July 31-Aug 10) and it was fabulous! Everyone on the island was super nice and we look forward to coming back for a visit in a few years. Castaway was recommended to us and we wholeheartedly recommend it to others!

My fiancee and I are spending our honeymoon on Castaway in mid-0ctober, 2001. We are so excited for it - almost more than the wedding. If anyone has any suggestions or interesting information to share, please do so. Are there any special "frills" for newlyweds? How's the weather and food that time of year? Is it mostly families that vistit the island? Has anyone been to the Outrigger Reed Fiji yet? We plan to spend 3 nights there, first, then seven at Castaway. Thanks!
Well, only 2 weeks and counting and my husband and I will be arriving in Fiji and soon after, Castaway Island for our honeymoon!!!! We are both so eager and have waited 3 months (since the wedding) for this moment to come. I just took a peek again at all the great things at Castaway and I don't know what I am more excited for? The diving, the food, or just relaxing and soaking up all that Fiji is! See you on August 29th! We'll be the English guy and American girl grinning from ear to ear!

We are hoping to go to Castaway with our three young kids (ages 11, 8 and 5) in June/July of 2002. Those who have been with kids, do you think we can fit into a beachfront bure with three kids? The "family" bure is more for a large group, I think. TWO bures are out of the question. And as far as transfer from the mainland, do most people take seaplane or boat and what are the benefits/drawbacks of each? Everyone on here seems to have had such a great time. I can hardly wait!
We are coming to Castaway in August 2002 to get married and would be interested in knowing what the weather is like at this time of year. We will be bringing our 9 year old daughter and want to know if she will be included in the champagne cruise around the island when we get married.

We made many friends ..so many ..Ramsey ..you are a gem and Bill don't ever stop us laughing...(the notes to Kini and Salome at the Naviti were delivered - much laughter and fun..ahhh Abu? the escapee..heard the whole story from Margaret).. Sonali my dear heavenly massage friend - photo and letter on the way ! Aloesi - Maia (my daughter) still keeps talking of your friendship. Will forward a photo too. Bill , you were the fun maker when the storm hit and the restaurant flooded..we loved your water skating/dance routine !! so fun . There are so many that we felt close to that I am afraid to miss out any..Lete...you sure taught my husband Alex and daughter Maia how to sail - just before the storm - I was almost sick just watching the bopping of the cat !!I am running out of space ..so thank you to all.. BULA! WE VISITED CASTAWAY IN FEBRUARY 1997 WITH OUR 3 CHILDREN HAYLEA DANIEL AND ALARA. SINCE THAT TIME WE HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT MANY OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD. HOWEVER OUR THOUGHTS AND FONDEST MEMORIES ARE OF CASTAWAY.THE WARMNESS AND FRIENDLINESS OF THE PEOPLE ARE BY FAR THE BEST WE HAVE EXPERIENCED ANYWHERE AND IT IS FOR THIS REASON THAT WE WILL BE COMING BACK SOON. WE ALL STILL GET OUT THE PHOTOS OF OUR CHILDREN PUSHING LILY AND SARAH IN THE POOL ON THE 2ND LAST DAY OF OUR VISIT.OUR CHILDREN HAVE HEARD LILY IS STILL THERE AND CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HER. A huge thank you to all the wonderful people at Castaway Island. Our four children and "big daddy" had the most wonderful holiday ever thanks to the wonderful Castaway family. We all recommend Castaway for 101 reason and hopefully we will get back there - to paradise and its people again. We hope our Castaway friends are all fit and well and may you always continue with your beautiful smiles, happy faces, lovely singing and laughing. My family (3 daughters) and I hope to visit Castaway while the 2002 Winter Olympic Games are going on in Salt Lake City, None of us have ever been to Fiji and would love comments on weather in February and things to do for kids who will be 16, 12 and 4. Also, we'd like to rent out our house if anyone would like to witness the Olympics.

Just got back yesterday 28th June 2001...Well now its three times on castaway Island, I can honestly say its been a blast........ We all loved it, The money spent is all worth it - Castaway island is very children friendly.... and you can leave them to do their own thing without any worries.... The New house massage was great, the banana boat was fun again, & a big thanks to a lot of the castaway family, Tevita, lily, Naba, Theresia (u know therese.. You renamed my son damien, to his new fijian name damoo)..., Latileta for doing a great job on my daughters hair plaits.... and again when she re-did them because daniella wrecked them with snorkelling..... and another big thanks to Kima for making my children's stay more exciting........ they loved his antics... Thanks to Zac for the sunny side up eggs.... (mmmm lovely) and a Special mention for thanks goes to MANAU AND DAVE (Chefs) for dealing with my difficult special dietry needs... And they both did it with perfection..... THANK YOU GUYS.... Thank you to all of our new friends who we met on this website & met up with us at the same time... all of you played a huge part in our wonderful stay and we will be contacting you personally.... Hey there, Well its 11 days to do go til we arrive on Castaway Island. My family and I will be there from the 25th til the 7th of July. Needless to say we are so excited and often think about what we will be doing in 2 weeks time. We are regulars to the Island and can't speak highly enough of it. It really is paradise. We are staying in Fiji at Castaway Island for a week from January 5th 2002, after spending 4 weeks travelling around Australia. We love Fiji and the genuine friendliness of people there. We spent our honeymoon there (oh so many many years ago) then had celebrations for our daughter's 10th birthday. Now we will be back to initiate our daughter into the teenagehood years. We visited Mana Island, Plantation Island, The Reef , The fijian and now for the first time Castaway and the Naviti - Castaway from 27/7 to 2/7...so any souls out there that will also be visiting at that time (or anybody) any new teenagers likely to be present ? any suggestions/views to share would be much appreciated...
We are making our first trip to Castaway in mid July,2001 and from all of the comments I have read, we are really looking forward to it! Will there be any other teenagers on the Island during that time? We are bringing daughters ages; 17 and 19. Thanks for any helpful hints anyone has to offer!
Well this is a real crazy comment. Yesterday I answered a e-mail from a lady in the northwest U.S. and was getting excited telling her about Castaway. Today I called my agent for air and two days from now my wife and I will be at Castaway. This will be our 4th trip in three years. But this trip will be the first without our daughters or our friends. I wanted to comment because I call Castaway "the Hawaii of 1920." No congestion, no tv, no phones, newspapers etc. It is the most relaxation place and it is the same flight time from LA as it from LA to London. We are really looking forward to seeing our Castaway family. Vinaka!
We have wanted to visit Fiji for a long time,and this trip in march 2003 will be the highlight of our 6 weeks annual leave.My brother Robert has told us of your island,as he has had bussiness there and also took his two daughters for a break on the island,after a busy time visiting all his relatives in the U.K.
Bula! We loved every minute of our trip on Castaway and we still rave about it. We were there February 1998. We made so many great friends, both with the locals (Joe & Semmi) and made great friends with Joe/Laura from Canada, who we still keep in touch with. We really enjoyed the Coconut bowling and the Frog racing. We are saving really hard to come back next February for our first wedding anniversary. Ni sa Bula Castaway Family. Our wedding was one of the first to be held on Castaway way back in March 1984. It was the most romantic , magical and memorable times of our lives. We have just returned from Castaway after another wonderful, relaxing and memorable time. In 17 years, not much has changed. The staff are still the happiest and most friendly people we have ever met with smiles that can bring sunshine to any heart. We snorkelled and swam and ate too much and relived all our past memories. Big hello to "Mary and Lilly" I returned to Castaway in July of 2000 with my husband to be after a big gap of 20 years. It was about my 10th trip and Bruce's first. We can't say enough about the time we spend there and the people. In all that time, the building may have changed but the people are still Castaways biggest asset for us! We recently stayed at Castaway as part of the Macalister/Glynn wedding party. The staff at the island were fantastic, especially Emily, Emly, and Seru in the bar/restaurant, Serelli and Jim, Jesse and Annie. The chef also has to be congratulated. Every meal was a delight and the special menu items each night just brilliant. It was a pleasure to stay at Castaway again, and we will be back! Vinaka Castaway!

Everyday we think about Castaway Island, we where there 4months ago in October 2000 for our Honeymoon we stayed there 9 nights, it was the best, we are coming back one day soon in the future as we want to re-new our vows at Castaway Island. Thanks to you all, we just want to be there again.
We went to Castaway in October 2000 and just fell in love with the island. It was the most relaxing and beautiful vacation ever. The people on the island were so friendly. The food was great and we loved our own bure right on the beach. We stayed eight nights and were disappointed when we had to leave paradise. Thank you Castaway for such an awesome vacation. We hope to return someday. We look at our photos and realize how lucky we were to have gone there. Married on 9/9/95 we stayed on Castaway Island for seven fantastic days.The "Meke" and "Island hopping "trip being a highlight of our Honeymoon.To all the staff at Castaway, keep up the great work, you all made our Honeymoon dream come true .Vinaka John and Chris.
We stayed at Castaway for a month in October 2000, it was the most sensational holiday my husband and I have ever had. We were there with our two 2 year old boys and they have never known such adoration. They were treated like royalty and it was not long before they knew everyone by name. I cannot say enough about Castaway Island nor recommend it more highly. Nor can I ever thank the staff enough for all that they did to make our time there truly sensational. My children were looked after every morning and by the end of our stay did not want to go to Mummy and Daddy they only wanted to go to the Fijians. Belatedly I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone, especially Mary, Sarah, Miriam, Meraleni, Anna, and Lucy who when they looked after my children loved them like their own. Also thanks to Manu, Vilisy, Lendua, Jale (who took my boys for their first sail), Remsey, and all the boys in the band who put up with my lads attempting to play the instruments! Really it is just a belated yet no less heartfelt thank you. We can't wait to see you again and may even try to fit in an extra visit before our big one later in the year. We came back from Fiji on Sunday after spending 17 beautiful days on Castaway. It was our second visit to Castaway and we miss all the lovely new friends we made, and the most beautiful island in the world. Spending New Year's Eve on Castaway is so much fun, especially the tradition of getting soaking wet when the clock strikes 12! Bula to our Castaway family. Peter & I visited Castaway in 1991 for the first time and have been back now a total of 7 times. Twice on our own and now we go back nearly every year with our 2 children Joshua 8 and Rebecca 5. They love the island and what it has to offer and after working hard all year there is nothing better that relaxing the with fantastic people on Castaway,who make it more enjoyable every year. Each time we visit we bring people with us and last year in April 2000 we were able to bring my parents,inlaws, brother and family and friends to this fantastic island,who are looking at going back themselves. I have just found your web site and as one of the other comments said " the memories came flooding back " of the 5 days our family spent on the Island. After the first day on the Island our 3 and 5 year old children found the kids club and that was the end of two children following their parents around, they were off making native hats, shell necklaces and frog hunting at night. To all the staff at Castaway we would like to thank you for the memories that will last in our children's minds forever. A special thanks to Joe (who fell in love with our red haired boy, James and became Jemesah for our entire stay on the Island) and also one of your cooks that we nicknamed Indy (who was famous for cooking our daughter her beloved pancakes)! The kids still ask when are we going back? Well, we are definately coming back and we hope to see you all in about 11 months time.
