BABYSITTING
For more personalized requirements than our Kids Club provides, a babysitting service is available by contacting reception. Our babysitters are in high demand and to ensure the Castaway family member of your choice, booking in advance is essential. Babysitting is F$5.00 per hour, paid in cash directly to the babysitter.
 BOUTIQUE AND GENERAL STORE
Resortwear fashions, swimwear, island jewelry, gifts, books and souvenirs together with general store pharmaceutical and toiletry items are available from 8:30am to 10:00pm daily.
CHECKOUT TIMES
Our checkout time is 10:00 am. The porters will collect and store your luggage for your convenience. It’s always hard to leave, so if you wish to stay for that last swim or to make the most of your last day on Castaway, our hospitality day bure, subject to availability, is free of charge to freshen up prior to departure.
CREDIT CARD POLICY
All major credit cards are accepted on Castaway - AMEX, Diners, JCB, MasterCard and Visa.
DRESS
Castaway is a relaxed and informal island resort where bare feet and sulus are the norm throughout the day and evening. Feel free to dress casually for the climate but don't forget a hat and sunscreen. Check the current weather at Weather.com. View monthly averages.
FIRST AID CLINIC
We have a registered nurse on the island to attend to any minor medical needs. The clinic is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm daily.
FRESH WATER
Castaway produces over 100,000 liters of pure desalinated water daily through an environmentally friendly process of reverse osmosis. However, as water is the most precious commodity on any island, your efforts to conserve are appreciated.
KIDS CLUB
The Fijians’ love of children is legendary and you can be assured your children will be cared for by our Castaway family of staff. We provide a complimentary service for all children three years and over from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. The children will enjoy a mixture of games and activities with a definite Fiji flavour - loads of fun and entertainment.
 LAUNDRY
We provide a bag wash and fold laundry service daily at a nominal charge. Simply deliver your bag of washing to the ladies at our laundry. Your clothes will be washed, folded and ready for pick up the following day.
SAFETY DEPOSIT
We have a safety deposit facility for each bure at reception and we suggest you deposit all valuables for safekeeping. There is no need to carry cash and in most instances it is not required on the island. We recommend and encourage you to charge all services to your account. Your account details are available for inspection at any time during your stay.
STAFF POLICIES
All the Castaway family of staff are free to mix socially with you during your stay. However, please be aware of our policy that prohibits staff from consuming alcohol whilst on the island. Please avoid embarrassment to yourselves and our Castaway family by respecting and observing this policy.
TELEPHONE & INTERNET ACCESS
Our reception is open daily from 6:30 am to midnight. During these hours access to international and local calls, email and facsimile transmissions are available for your convenience.
 TIPPING
Whilst direct tipping is not encouraged, a staff fund exists which is shared by all Castaway family members at Christmas time. Donations may be made at reception. Above all, a note and snapshot sent from overseas is greatly appreciated.
TRANSFERS
The Tiger IV departs Castaway Island for Denarau Marina at approximately 10:45 am, 2:00 pm and 4:15 pm daily. We suggest you meet in front of the Dive Shop at least 20 minutes prior to departure. Seaplane and helicopter departure times should be reconfirmed with reception one day prior to your departure. |
